Databases / e-media

ThULB offers its users access to licensed e-books, e-journals (EZB) and databases (DBIS). Also, freely accessible electronic resources will be added constantly to the library catalogue.

Terms of use for licensed e-media

Licensed materials have to be used according to the terms of use. Regarding access, there are the following options:

At our computer work stations several programs can be accessed such as MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Citavi, EndNote or Zotero. Please note that some databases apply special requirements for their services, thus read their notices carefully.

Search tips:

E-media such as e-books and databases can be searched inThULB-Suche catalogue. Use the filter “Online access” to restrict search results to e-media.

Please register with Beck-Online and Beck-e-Bibliothek individually. By default, the account name should include your university e-mail address (first name.last name@uni-jena.de). Please login before every use of this service. You can find information on the provider’s terms and conditions.

Access to Proquest Ebook Central is limited to a certain amount of users (three users at the same time). As soon as a person quits the session, others become able to open the content. The publishing house limits the amount of downloads. Mostly, not more than 40 pages per title can be saved. After 24 hours, the counter will be cleared and further 40 pages become available for download. Please check the provider’s terms and conditions.

Thuringian daily newspapers have been published as e-paper since 2014 and can be searched in ThULB-Suche catalogue. E-papers are presented according to legal deposit law. The publication of issues comes with a seven day delay. The content of PDF documents can be text searched. Access will only be granted at ThULB’s computer work stations. Downloads are suspended by licensing right.

The Web archive of Thuringia has been collecting content from Thuringian websites according to electronic legal deposit law since 2018. Access will only be granted at ThULB’s computer work stations.
