Students of Thuringian universities and universities of applied sciences receive their thoska after matriculation. Employees can apply for a card after having signed their work contract.
Your user number can be found on the backside of the card - right below the barcode. Please use this number when you try to log on to your library user account and/or your interlibrary loan account.
To get a guest thoska for the library please consult the Central Loan Desk in the Main Library Building. Purchase costs are 10€ (please bring a banknote).
You can use the thoska card for:
*The thoska card can be transferred to a third party. This enables people to check out/request/pick up/extend or to return media. Please be reminded that the actual holder of the card is still legally responsible for all media that have been borrowed.
Alternatively the library will accept a letter of authorisation which enables third persons to use a library account. To create the document please use our online form. The letter of authorisation has to be signed and presented in printed form.
The thoska card can be topped up via cash or bank account card. Machines are available in the Main Library Building, Main University Building, University Hospital and the campus building (Ernst-Abbe-Platz).
Please report the loss of your thoska card to the Central Loan Desk as soon as possible. Library staff can suspend your account to protect it from unauthorised use.
In case you own a thoska card distributed by University of Jena please also inform the thoska office of your loss.
