Coronavirus - Our current services for you

When organizing our services, we consistently keep your needs in mind. Your health and that of our employees are of great importance to us. Due to this, all steps towards a return to regular opening hours and operations are connected to hygiene measures and other measures to prevent infection. On account of ongoing restrictions, we ask you to continue working and learning from home (if possible) and to give preference to the digital offers and services of the ThULB.

Terms of using the library (18.11.2021)

1. Gerneral information
You can plan your library visit in advance with our digital services such as the 3D models of our branch libraries, which include shelf signatures or the locations of self-service machines or media return boxes. You can use the "ThULB Suche" to find out in advance about the availability of your desired media.

Protect yourself and others by ...

      • ...following the designated hygiene and infection protection rules.
      • ...limiting necessary personal contacts to a maximum of 10 min.
      • ...wearing a medical mask (surgery mask or FFP2) for the entire duration of your stay - even at the booked workplace (as of 18.10.21).

2. "3-G" regulation

The 3G rule*, which has already been in force for face-to-face teaching at the University of Jena since the beginning of the semester, will be extended to the library's user operations and implemented from 15.11.2021.

Therefore it is mandatory to fulfill one of the three "Gs" to access our branch librarys and to use our on-site services.

This adjustment is based on the current Thuringian ordinance regulating infection control measures to contain the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. As in the face-to-face teaching sessions, the 3G checks will also be carried out as random checks in the library locations.

Please note

  • Please carry appropriate 3G proof (vaccination, genesis status or official test result) with you at all times and
  • show it to security or library staff on request (e.g. during admission control).
  • For on-site use of the workstations, you will also confirm your 3G status as part of the booking process via the CARREL system.

3. Notes on using the library and duration of stay

Short stay for borrowing/returning media is ...

For working in the library, please note that ...

  • ...the release of workstations is done according to the three-step model of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
  • ...all information on the use and booking of workstations can be found on the page "Study space booking".
  • ...the carrels cannot be released for use. Background: As a result of a review of the ventilation concepts for our locations (by the technical safety department of the University of Jena), it was determined that ventilation cannot be ensured to the required extent in these very small rooms.
  • ...the seats in the special reading rooms cannot be booked by yourself. If you would like to view your magazine or interlibrary loan orders, please contact the Central Information Office in advance (by e-mail or by phone +49 3641 9-404 100).

The ThULB COVID-19 copy service will be discontinued on 01.10.2021. This additional service was only available to staff, students and members of the University of Jena during the period of restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic and within the framework of the digital semesters.

Copies can still be made independently on site at the copying stations. If required, copies can be made from the library's holdings by ThULB staff for a fee. Further information can be found here: ThULB COVID-19 Kopienservice

  • Furthermore, media can also be returned via postal service.
